Place, Time, and Song

A set of moving images about the songs i listen to at different periods of my life.

Since my freshman year of college, I’ve held my Spotify playlists very close to myself. At the same time, I began experimenting with Photoshop and AfterEffects. It only made sense to combine both events together. Each image was illustrated, designed, and animated by me as I try to explore a new technique and visual aesthetic with each changing season.

Adrienne Lenker
Row

i've always dreamt of pink and purple landscapes, filled with clouds, lakes, and mountains. this song reminds me of a daydream.

George Yanagi, Khruangbin
祭ばやしが聞こえる」のテ ーマ

a discontented split between the mundane and fantasy; of time passing by too fast and wanting to settle in home.

Timber Tembre
Bleu Nuit

strangers and even stranger things in the middle of a funk.

The National
Empire Line

an endless train line, on and on and on...

Christine & The Queens
People I've Been Sad

i love dancing to this song - it feels very much like a fellowship; reminds me of the bond i share with a close friend.

Love You Later
Growing Season

i listened to this song a lot when i moved to london. now it feels like a collage, a short gallery of a growing season.

Al Green
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart

a 4-5 month timeline of my life in early 2020, animated and overly romanticized.

Kate Bollinger
Je Reverai a Toi

this song feels like time passing to me; in a daze, state of relax.

Lucy Dacus
Hot and Heavy

the suburban endless plight of the mundane.
